So is it a boy or a girl?

So far, practically everyone has guessed we're having a girl. Countless friends and family members, including our three-and-a-half year old niece, are all convinced it's a girl.

Only my grandmother and my mom-in-law so far have stood up to the crowds and claimed it's a boy. My grandma even claims it's a boy with brown hair and brown eyes (I tried to find out what his future occupation might be, but no luck there).

Mike and I have both thought from pretty early on that it's a girl. Then again, I'm horrible at guessing the gender of unborn babies. I was convinced that each of my nieces would be a nephew - except for maybe Kyleigh because I started to wise up that Dave and Jeni seem to make girls. But no, deep down, I still thought she was a boy. I was convinced my friend Kristin was having a boy. Nope, girl all the way.

Kristin - who correctly guessed she is having a girl - is now certain I'm having a girl, too. She says I look like I'm carrying high, and that my bump reminds me of hers. Also, I crave sweet things. That's all the information she needed to make her decision.

Now that everyone is so convinced it's a girl, Mike has started wavering in his opinion. He thinks too many people feel too strongly about it, and that could indicate it's actually a boy.

According to the Chinese gender prediction chart, it's a boy. Not sure how much stock to put in that. I'm thinking not much.

I'm gonna be honest: I have no idea. Every time I clear my mind and really try to get in touch with my intuition or my mother's instinct, I come to the same conclusion: girl. But I'm always wrong. Is it different with your own child? Mike scoffs at the idea that a woman can intuitively know what gender she is carrying. I have told him that studies show that mothers have a higher rate of guessing the gender of their own baby correctly (about 70 percent correct instead of 50 percent). That only made him scoff louder.

It's just two weeks until the big ultrasound where we will *hopefully* find out (please, baby, cooperate and show your stuff). I think the last time I looked forward to one day so much was my wedding day.

So, help me out here. Distract me. Make your guesses by choosing an option in the poll on the top, right side of this blog. Or leave your predictions in the comments section below. And..... go!

  1. Dear Mike, IN YOUR FACE, I WAS RIGHT! Love, Kristin

My sister-in-law's instinct was right, too. I honestly thought maybe I was just thinking girl so hard because I figured it naturally would be ANOTHER Wolfrum boy :)

And the Chinese Gender chart was wrong for me.

  2. I *so* think it's a girl. I don't have any mother's instinct or what not, but I've said it before and I'll say it again.. GIRL, GIRL, GIRL!!!

Just to clarify, that's not 3 girls, I just really think it's a girl! :)

  4. i think the mom does most times have the "instinct" to know, even when she "wants" the opposite. At first i thought Cara was a girl, tyhen changed to think she was a boy,and was wrong( but only from old wives tales on symptoms. dont beleive those. or how you carry. ), the other two i absolutley deep down KNEW were girls. (even though i secretly kind of wanted a boy with Kyleigh...although i wouldnt trade her for the world now!! )the chinese thing was rght on all 3 of ours, BUT wrong for alot of people i know.

i guess in reality only the baby knows FOR SURE, but im sticking with for the most part the mom knows.

i guess we will all know soon! like in an hour or so soon! woohoo!
