So, I guess I'm gonna have to give birth.

So far, I love being pregnant. I do not, however, like to think about actually giving birth. In fact, Mike said something about labor the other day, and I told him that I wasn't ready to think or talk about it yet.

But I knew I had to sign up for some kind of classes (I'm not one to go into something that major unprepared, after all), and I didn't want to take a chance that they'd get full. So today, I signed us up for some basic childbirth classes once a week in July. They recommend you take them in your 7th or 8th month, which would be June or July, but I figured I wanted to take them as late as possible, so the information will be fresh in my mind (or maybe I wanted to put it off a little longer...).

Mike also wanted me to sign him up for a "New Daddy Boot Camp," so one morning in July, he'll learn all about how to be a Dad (as much as they can tell you in three hours, anyway). I'm sort of intrigued at what he might learn, and I'm wondering why there's no "New Mommy Boot Camp." Is that because everything I need to know should be innate or instinctual? Uh oh.

But anyway, the child birth classes have been paid for and are written in my planner, which makes it official: I will have to learn how to give birth... cuz I will be giving birth. At first, I was thinking that July still sounded kind of far off. Until I realized that it's practically May. And the class starts the first week in July... which really means it's only about 2 months away. And September is right around the corner from that!

Oh boy.

  1. It sure will be a boy you will give birth too! Birthing classes were the BEST! They encourage your partner to give you massages and all that fun relaxing stuff :) I wish we would've "made friends in our class, it would be neat to have seen some of them and how there babies have grown. Good luck!!

  2. i wish Dave had done daddy boot camp...just because i think its a cute idea. he caught on fine without it, but still.

And you will have to let me know what a birthing class is like. i kinda just went with the flow. i figured i was a woman and my body knew how to do that stuff. it does. not that im sure classes are not helpful, but really had i had someone coaching me i probably would have punched them. someone to hold my hand and wipe my head and im good.

And dont fear labor, it is NOT as bad as the world would have you think. i have experienced far worse pain than that and not died. go into it knowing it will hurt, but its normal and doesnt last forever and you come out of it with a snuggly little baby. :)
i can honestly say ive done it all ways. i had an induction ( with failed epidural). i had a completely natural, and i had a csection. Csection was by far the worst. natural hurt worse but was way easier. and Cara, she was pretty easy too, even if you get induced, dont let pitocin stories scare you either. it wasnt that bad.
