  2. I guess I am a little slow. I think I get the wet cloth diaper idea, but do you wring them out first? Do you scrape the BM's out, or do you close your eyes and throw it all in?? How is daycare going to handle them also. Do they just toss them each in a gift bag for you after changes? I am not going to lie, the idea of washing more really gives me heart failure. SO let me know how it is!!! I think I would be more interested in it now for Owen being older, than when he was smaller. thanks for the info :)

  3. Bradder -- I have no doubt I will be writing one of those posts.

Jen -- From what most people tell me, it's not as gross or difficult as you would think. If there is something solid in the diaper, you just dump it in the toilet and flush and then the diaper can go in the washer. We bought a large, zippered wet bag that hangs on his doorknob to throw in the dirty diapers. Once there is enough for a load, you wash them and then hang them to dry. As for daycare, we will buy one of those aluminum trash cans with a lid and a pedal to keep at the daycare. They'll throw the diapers in there throughout the day, and we'll bring a wet bag (we bought a smaller one for this purpose) with us when we pick him up. Throw the dirty ones in the wet bag and bring them home to wash.

Not all daycares are willing to do the cloth diapering thing, but ours is. I'll let you know how it goes!

  4. They also make diaper sprayers (http://www.babyearth.com/bumgenius-diaper-sprayer.html) to help get solids off the diapers and in to the toilet. I've read that some dads think this is the most fun part of cloth diapering and treat it like a toy, haha.

  5. i wish you the best of luck. although seeing what baby poo actually looks like, i cant imagine just being able to dump it in the toilet. its like mush. nasty mush. but props to you for at least trying!

  6. My mom used them on both of us way back in the day with diaper pins (ouch) and she said they were never that bad. I think it's cool. Disposable diapers are SO expensive. I can see where cloth may seem unpractical at times, but I think I'd at least have to give them a shot. Plus... they. are. so. cute!!! He's going to have the cutest little multi-colored bum!
