*How I'm feeling: Just two more weeks of sitting at my desk for 10-1/2 hours a day! I think I'll feel better once that's done, but even so, I can't really complain. Other than the usual back pain and discomfort after a long day (and that darned restlessness), I continue to fare pretty well.
*Physical differences from last week: Not a whole lot! I'm just all kinds of pregnant. :)
*What's been on my mind: At this point, even if the little guy makes a late arrival, we are almost certain to have him home with us in less than two months! I've been in full "get-everything-ready" mode. I'm at a point where I'm no longer thinking much about the pregnancy stage of this and am now focusing on getting things ready for the hospital and post-birth life.
I've got the Rhino's going home outfit all picked out, washed, and set aside. I've started a list of necessities to pack for the hospital stay. I set out the things we'll be using right away and stored away the things we'll need later on. We're starting to realize that we'd better stock up on some newborn disposable diapers soon for the first couple of weeks. All the big stuff is out of the way, but we still need to get stuff like wipes, baby soap, detergent to wash the cloth diapers and a few more bottles, in case we end up feeding him formula right away. If he came tomorrow (*knock on wood*... I want him to keep cooking for at least another five weeks), we wouldn't be 100 percent prepared, but we'd be just one or two Target trips away from it.
*What I'm looking forward to: Our childbirth class on Saturday! Eight straight hours of fear-inducing - I mean "informative" - instruction. Whoo! I'm also excited to see how our maternity photos turned out. I'll get to see all the proofs sometime this week and will be able to choose 20 pictures that she will edit for us and send to us on a CD.
*Other random thoughts: Mike and I are both fans of good food. I really enjoy eating a good meal at home (who wouldn't when they have a husband who is not only a good cook, but also thrives on trying new recipes?). But we also enjoy going out to eat about once a week to any one of a dozen of our favorite joints. Obviously, this won't be happening as frequently in the very near future, so we've decided to make a list of all the places we feel we need to hit one last time (maybe twice in the case of Mi Pueblo) before Ryan joins our family. I also plan to take notes on which places seem to be the most family friendly (and which places offer a take-out option). Let the restaurant crawl begin!

you are sooooo pregnant! love it! this pregnancy seems to have gone so fast!
ReplyDeleteI know! On the one hand, it feels like time has totally flown by. On the other hand, it feels like I've been pregnant for a LONG time, haha.
ReplyDeleteWe've been told over and over not to give up on going out to eat now but to prepare to give it up when the kid doesn't sleep through the meal/is more mobile/won't just sit in the car seat while you eat. And for family friendly coffee spot options, I learned from Linds that Panera is more family friendly than Starbucks (Panera has high chairs).
ReplyDeleteYou belly bumpalicious babe you! You and Ryan look great!
ReplyDeleteOh, we definitely don't plan on giving up eating out, haha. We just know it probably won't be right away or as frequently as we do now, and maybe some places will be better more family friendly than others. But I've also read that kids who are taken out starting at a very young age tend to behave better in public as they get older, because they're accustomed to being in those situations. So I think that's a great excuse to go out! ;)
ReplyDeleteAnd we don't have Panera out here! :-/ My mom actually brings me Panera bagels whenever she visits cuz I miss it. But we don't tend to go out for coffee/breakfast much, anyway, so that's ok.
Hey, Take him out as much as you can WHEN he is little. like right away! lol. the smaller they are the better it goes!!! its once they are a few months old it gets tricky!!
ReplyDeleteand i can not beleive in less than 8 weeks you are having a baby!!! I can not wait to be a first time Auntie!! it's like that "always a bridesmaid never a bride" thing, except i was always the mommy, never the aunt! haha!
ReplyDeleteBoo on no Panera! We almost never go out for breakfast/coffee either (since we're usually still asleep when most normal people are out and about), but when I meet up with Linds in Ohio and she has Izzy it has been really convenient.
ReplyDeleteSeester -- You're going to be a GREAT aunt! :-D
