First of all, my awesome Aunt Cindy painted some really nice block letters that spell out "RYAN." She did an amazing job, and I think the colors really give the room some life. Here is Mike, carefully hanging:

We also hung up some valances (I'm sure Mike always thinks I'm a huge help when I'm taking photos while he does these things):
Note also the new toy chest under the window! We came upon that while we were at Target buying the curtain rod, and we knew it was perfect. It's sort of hard to tell in the picture, but it's light and dark blue striped and matches the color of the valence perfectly.
We're thinking about getting some kind of small shelving apparatus to hang to the left of the window to sort of finish that area off. Searching for that has already occupied me for quite a while online.
