Does anyone watch the show "Parenthood"? If not, you should. It's really cute. Mike and I are into it.
If you've never seen it, it's basically about a large, crazy family that consists of two grandparents, their four children (two women and two men) and various spouses and grandchildren. There is always lots of drama with the usual angst and a few parenting challenges thrown in.
It's always nice to see how this family rallies around each other at the end of the day. Their family events are noisy, lively and full. Mike and I obviously don't get to be around that type of scene very often, living so far from our families, so it can sometimes make my heart ache a bit.
Last night, after we finished watching the DVR'd episode, I turned to Mike, feeling sentimental, and said, "This show makes me want to have lots of kids. The kids grow into adults, and then you're surrounded by a big family all the time."
His response? "Uh oh. Maybe we need to stop watching this show."
I guess he just likes it cuz it has some witty dialogue.

We watch it! Although we haven't watched this week's episode ... I teared up at the gym a few weeks ago at the end of one episode, when Crosby was realizing how much of Jabbar's life he's missed ... sigh. If my crazy family lived closer together and had about eight more grandkids, we *might* be a little bit like that show ... it might be for the best that we don't all live in the same town :)
ReplyDeleteCrosby is my favorite! I love how he always says, "He's really cute," whenever he's telling someone about Jabbar. :)
ReplyDeletenot really into shows like that, but sounds like our family events growing up...i grew up constantly around not just two brothers, but about 12 cousins/second cousins, and all sorts of grandparents, great grandparents, aunts uncles and people we called aunts and uncles...and older cousins. now that we are all grown up and WE are the only ones with LITTLE kids, family events seem so quiet...
