Mike and I decided pretty early on that we would try to cloth diaper the little guy. We came to this conclusion for two main reasons: It's good for the environment, and it's a lot cheaper in the long run than disposable diapers.
I had visions of those old rag-like cloth diapers that my parents used back in the day... but the truth is that cloth diapers have come a
long way since then. They're made in all kinds of colors, they actually look like regular diapers, and dang - they are just cute.

We ordered 20 to start. We might end up needing a few more as time goes by, but I figured we could try this brand and make sure we like them before buying any new ones. I did a
lot of research on cloth diapers and hemmed and hawed like crazy before settling on a brand and size. This brand, BumGenius, is a favorite among those who cloth diaper. And the latest and greatest one-size-fits-all version of them comes with a smaller newborn absorbent insert (in addition to the thicker, bulkier insert for older babies), which should reduce some of the bulkiness in the beginning.
Now comes the big decision: which color do I put on him first?! I'm thinking the dark green. :)
Oh, I don't know... that light green one is awful cute. Have you picked out his first outfit yet?
ReplyDeleteNo, not yet. I'm waiting until closer to the time because we've still been getting lots of gifts and Kelly is throwing me a small shower in Phoenix next month, so I might get more clothes then, too. But yeah, I could just coordinate with the first outfit. That would prob make the most sense.
ReplyDeleteI say blue or orange for obvious reasons. ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I like Erica's idea! :)
ReplyDeleteare you going to cloth diaper in the hospital? or just when you come home? if so let them know so they dont automatically put him in disposables.
ReplyDeletei give you credit. i couldnt do it. i already hate laundry as it is! im sitting next to a three foot pile of it as i type this...
We'll just use disposables at the hospital and maybe for the first week or so, as we get used to having him around and figure out what we're doing. ;) I don't want my first task when we all get home to be washing a load of cloth diapers, haha. But hopefully we'll start with them asap.
