Baby will be on-the-go in style

This was an exciting baby weekend. First, because I hit the 12-week mark on Saturday, which means I'm practically out of the first trimester. And second, because we made our first big baby gear purchase!

I've been feeling overwhelmed with all things baby recently, so a couple of weeks ago, I asked Mike if he would take on the task of researching and picking out a car seat and a stroller. I knew he would do a fantastic job, and he didn't disappoint. He picked out one that is top rated for safety, is great for Arizona (i.e., first-rate sun shade), and has a non-annoying and gender-neutral color combination of grey and light green.

I did my part, too! I signed up for a rewards program at Babies R Us that gets you access to awesome coupons, and snagged a coupon for 20 percent off any one item. So we headed up to do some shopping on Sunday, and came home with this:

I must tell you, this box fit perfectly and easily into the back of our new CR-V. In fact, after Mike heaved it into the back, we both took a moment to stare at it and reflect upon what a struggle it would have been to fit it into my old two-door Cavalier. We bought that baby at just the right time.

Anyway, Mike spent some time Sunday night putting it all together. This the first of many baby-gear-building projects, and he did a great job. The car seat didn't require too much work:

The stroller was a bit more complicated, and prompted a few "what the... how does this... you can't tell anything from these pictures!"

But it actually didn't take him very long, and I think you can see here how he feels about completing his first project as a Daddy-to-be:

Here it is, in all it's glory:

Unfortunately, it's now sitting in the middle of our den until we get some stuff into storage and start rearranging our home. But we've both accepted that the condo might be in a state of disarray for approximately the next 6 months, so it's all good.

  1. i totally giggled at the comments made by mike during assembly. Dave just assembled our DOUBLE stroller, and the process was jam packed with similar if not more colorful commentary from him as well!

    Very cute stroller though!

  2. Those pictures are horrible. I don't know how the people in Taiwan or wherever this stuff is made get anything done, but it's a miracle.

  3. Yeah, I *may* have cleaned up the language a bit for general audiences, haha. I do my part by keeping quiet and staying out of the way. :)
